Visiting Lyon with children

There are plenty of opportunities for parents and children to enjoy themselves in the city. The following is a list of a few activities and visits near our short term rental apartment in the Renaissance district.

Vieux Lyon is a pedestrian area. How about a paper chase in the Old Town?  The Renaissance Association of Vieux-Lyon sells a notebook of riddles about the district to solve amongst friends and family.

Vieux Lyon is listed under U.N.E.S.C.O world heritage. Also, there are four museums which offer guided tour adapted for children.The Gadagne Museum, which situated in a old Renaissance building, is divided into two museums : The Museum of Marionettes from around the World and The Museum of Lyon’s History

You must think that many museums are about puppets and marionettes.  The marionette, called Guignol was born in Lyon. That's the reason why there are museums, theatres and shops dedicated to the Guignol marionette.

It is very typical for grandmothers who live in Lyon to take their grandchildren to the marionette show. Why don’t you do the same in the Théâtre de la Maison de Guignol ?
After all this intellectual visits, here is a sporting proposal : The Fourvière climbing aventure.
After effort comes comfort ! Tourists and people from Lyon like to laze on the terrace of the old historical district. Allow yourself to be tempted by Nardone’s ice-cream.
Then, it is off to buy souvenirs : marionette and musical boxes in the Rue saint Jean.
All the ideas mentioned above are located in a very narrow area, between the district of Vieux Lyon and Fourvière. The rest of the city offers many other activites and leisures.
