Artwork in an openair market

Event, Good places

For almost 40 years, every Sunday morning between 8a.m and 1p.m., local artists have been gathering together to exhibit their artwork in this open air market in the Vieux-Lyon district : "Le marché de la Création." Not surprisingly, this weekly event has become part of the heritage of Lyon. 150 artists, painters, engravers, sculptors, photographers and artisans exhibit along the banks of the River Saône, between the Palais de Justice and the Lyon-Saint-Paul station. Whatever the weather, much pleasure is to be had by bringing together the artists and visitors. The ambiance is convivial as art lovers and experts exchange ideas about artistic approaches, techniques, colours and sources of inspiration etc… These exchanges delight the collectors who love to understand the story behind the individual pieces.
