The Gadagne Museum in Vieux-Lyon
The " Gadagne Museum" can be found in the « rue du Bœuf ». This name was bestowed by the Gadagni family: a 16th century, rich, Italian family of bankers originating from Florence in Italy who wished to do business.
This museum is interesting for many reasons. Its building is a testimony to the Renaissance period. If you stop there you can imagine how life was at this period in time.
In addition to the beauty of the building, there are also 2 museums within: The Lyon History Museum and the World Puppets Museum.
The Historical Museum of Lyon allows one to do a chronologic visit of the town. It is explained through different subjects: town planning, economic, social, political and cultural environment.
In addition to 2000 puppets, the World Puppets Museum offers Laurent Mourguet ‘s famous puppets from Lyon : Gnafron, Guignol and Madelon.
After this interesting visit, one can have a tea break at the « Café Gadagne », on the 4th floor of the museum. On a hot day, the place is shaded and the quiet and fresh terrace makes for a nice lunchtime.
